Synopsis

MEKHIT a.k.a. Mat Piso the King of Bandits, is marrying POLI. This angers Poli's father, NATASASMITA PICUM, the Lord of All Beggars in Betawi. Because the wedding is carried on without his consent. Picum asks AMALIA, his wife, to concoct a scheme so that Mekhit can be sent jail. But Mekhit always manages to escape.

The Chief of Police KARTAMARMA, known by the alias the Brown Tiger, is actually Mekhit's best friend. They have been cooperating all this time. So, no wonder that Mekhit's band of bandits always manages to elude capture by the police.

Natasasmita Picum finally threatens Kartamarma, if Mekhit is not arrested, then he will mobilize his army of beggars to take to the streets for a demonstration. Mekhit is captured again and sentenced to death. But, as his end is drawing near, comes a Decree from the Governor General. What does the letter say?

The fact is, anything that comes from the palace is capable of standing above the law. It can even overrule a judge's verdict.
